Maria DeLaundreau

M.S. Student, Natural Resources Science and Management

I am interested in the managment and science of ecosystems and natural spaces. For my thesis research, I am developing integrated management techniques for controlling invasive reed canary grass and regenerating floodplain forests. The results will aid foresters and wildlife managers in implementing the most efficient methods to restore and sustain critical floodplain forest habitats.

I earned a BA from Lawrence University in biology and double minored in environmental studies and Spanish. My career so far is focused on studying and improving floodplain and bottomland forests along the Upper Mississippi River and its tributaries. I enjoy working with public and private landowners, and in partnership with many government units and organizations.

For fun, I enjoy planning my next adventure, canoeing, identifying plants, playing badminton, reading, dancing, baking chocolate chip cookies, and chopping fresh vegetables.
